Classic Fly-in Wilderness Okavango Experience
Our 5 day Classic Fly-in Wilderness Okavango package allows you to explore 2 different areas of the Okavango. The first area is drier and has open grasslands with acacia thickets, making this a good area for Giraffe. The region is known for its Leopard sightings, large herds of Zebra and Impala. Plains game viewing is at its best in the winter months, but there are good predator sightings year round.
The second area you will go to is much wetter and is known for the large herds of Buffalo that gather on its seasonal floodplains. There are several prides of Lion that call the region home, as well as Wild Dog and Cheetah.
This is a good area to see plains game such as Wildebeest, Sable and Impala. There are also many resident Waterbuck near the camp. Bird watchers will be able to experience excellent birding - with many species typical of the Delta present, such as Spoon Bills and Kingfishers, as well as rarer species such as Rosey-Throated Honeyclaws and Wattle Cranes.
Day 1: Johannesburg – Maun – Okavango Delta
On the first day of your Botswana tour you will fly from Johannesburg to Maun, before catching a light aircraft to the southern region, of the Okavango Delta. Once you have settled in to camp, you will enjoy a game viewing activity such as an afternoon game drive or a guided bush walk. These are led by experienced safari guides who will tell you about the habits of the animals you see. Returning to the bush camp, you will enjoy refreshing sundowners followed by a delectable dinner, which is usually served in the thatched dining area or out on the deck.
Day 2: Okavango Delta - South
You’ll receive an early morning wake-up call, as game viewing is best at this time. After tea or coffee and a snack you’ll set off on the morning’s game viewing activity. This could either be another game drive or a nature walk that will be tailored made to suit your needs.
These game walks are a great way to take in the scenic beauty of the Delta. You may discover Reedbuck, or your ranger will help you track animals such as Lion. These walks are a great opportunity for birding enthusiasts to spot rarer species – you might even see a Pel’s Fishing Owl.
You’ll return to camp and enjoy a sumptuous brunch in the mid morning. You will then have time to relax and enjoy a splash in the pool. Mid afternoon you’ll enjoy a delicious tea before heading out on your game viewing activity. You may go on a night drive which will allow you to see some of the animals that are active at night.
Day 3: Light aircraft flight - Okavango Delta
After your early morning game viewing activity and breakfast, you will take a short light aircraft flight to the northern Okavango Delta. You will spend the next 2 nights in an intimate classic style camp. In the afternoon you will set off on your first game viewing activity. This could be another game drive or a mokoro trip (a traditional canoe) to explore the channels of the Delta.
Day 4: Okavango Delta - North
The island has a wonderful tropical feel with many Fan palms which bring the Elephants onto the island, especially towards the end of winter. After breakfast you may take a boat ride to explore the surrounding islands, as well as go on nature walks. You’ll return to camp for a tasty lunch. In the afternoon you will set off on a game drive. Game drives are possible nearly all year round, but may be restricted during the annual flood. Game drives will continue after sunset, so that you can discover the nocturnal inhabitants of the Delta.
Day 5: Okavango Delta – Maun – Johannesburg
On the final morning of your Botswana fly-in safari you will enjoy one last early morning game viewing activity before flying-out of the Okavango Delta to Maun. There you will catch a connecting flight back to Johannesburg.

This Botswana package is based on a 5 day Fly-in to the Okavango Delta, and a stay at 2 different bush camps in different areas for 2 guests sharing en-suite accommodation. This Botswana tour is all inclusive, with scheduled flights ex/to Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport.
The Rates are based on the high season price and may vary depending on the season and the daily currency exchange rate. This Okavango safari can also be combined with a stay at Chobe National Park and the Linyanti region in Botswana.
